Reggie Miller Foundation

reggiemillerlogo

The Reggie Miller Foundation is the Education Department of the General Workers’ Union of Malta. It consists of ten schools, catering for around 5000 students with a compliment of around 100 teachers and lecturers.

The Schools cater for the teachings of Languages, Music, Art and Crafts, Theatre and Drama, Information Technology, Health and Safety, Leadership, Academic Subjects, General Courses and Courses held abroad, mainly in the United Kingdom.

Indeed, the Foundation besides seeing to the education of the workers and their families, it also provide service to the general public. It also targets the private enterprise, companies and management. All the above seek the help and educational courses and materials of the Reggie Miller Foundation.

As a matter of fact, we are the only organisation who are able to provide training and re-training to middle-management  and staff. On our track record we can include, Nylon Knitting and Trelleborg, which are big companies locally which have asked for our assistance. We provide them with lessons and courses as designed and planned with the management itself.

Our specialised courses are carried out in collaboration with other professional bodies, depending on the subjects and issues concerned. Thus, we can say that we work closely with FHRD (Foundation for Human Resources), the Gerontology Department of the University of Malta, The Employment and Training Centre of Malta (ETC), Labour Studies Department of the University of Malta, and TCTC (the leading Computer Company in Malta).

The Reggie Miller Foundation also carries out monthly  seminars for the benefit of the workers’ and their representatives with the participation of other constituted bodies which have direct interest in the subject being tackled during that particular month. These seminars  are also attended by the general public, and the participants  amount to around 60 each month. We also highly publicise these events and every seminar is covered by the local media due to its relevance and importance for the local market within an international sphere. Every so often we have the pleasure of hosting foreign speakers and officials to address our monthly seminars.

The Reggie Miller Foundation is also the owner of UNLILANG SCHOOL OF LANGUAGES which school aims at teaching English to foreigners with specific reference to the world of work. We have had students coming from all over Europe and China.

Within the building of the GWU, were the schools are housed we also have a Childcare Centre for the benefit of parents who would like to attend our courses and bring along their young children, knowing that they will be in a safe, educational and family-friendly environment.
